Livia Gabricio Hertel, a psychology and criminology double major, built an interdisciplinary research path focused on trauma and justice-involved populations. She has worked with justice-involved individuals and contributed to research on how systems shape outcomes for vulnerable communities. Her honors thesis examined how experiences of sexual assault influence perceptions of sex work and sex workers, and she has also supported research on how victim characteristics affect legal outcomes. She is preparing two first-author manuscripts for publication.
Beyond research, Livia demonstrated leadership through mentorship and student engagement, helping peers navigate research and graduate pathways with greater confidence. She plans to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology and continue integrating clinical care, research and systemic reform to improve outcomes for vulnerable populations in the United States and Brazil.
The Golden Bull Award is one of 糖心Vlog's highest honors given annually in the spring semester to deserving undergraduate and graduate students who encompass the spirit of 糖心Vlog and have demonstrated its values. Recipients must exemplify exceptional leadership and service to the university and the community.
