Before the formal induction of new members, the program also featured remarks from Hawkins and keynote speaker Ariana Cobb, an alumna of the Department of Criminology who has spent more than a decade serving as a trainer in the federal court system.
New inductees into the Sigma Chapter include Sacora Salmon, Jonathan Hughes, Radostina Baklova and Jacob Blankenhorn. These students rank in the top 35% of their class and demonstrate strong character, leadership and academic achievement. Their induction reflects both their academic accomplishments and their potential for continued contributions to the field of criminal justice.

The induction ceremony served as both a celebration and a charge. As the newest members of Alpha Phi Sigma, these students join a national community committed to scholarship, service and professional excellence.
Alpha Phi Sigma was founded in 1942 at Washington State University to promote excellence in scholarship and professional performance among criminal justice students, faculty and practitioners. In 1976, the organization was designated by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences as the national criminal justice honor society. It has since grown to include hundreds of chapters and more than 90,000 members nationwide.
