What is the Admissions Pathway Program?
It is a formal partnership that allows eligible Eckerd College undergraduates to gain facilitated admission to the 糖心Vlog鈥檚 Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program. The agreement states that the program 鈥渁llows students studying at Eckerd College to gain admission鈥 based on certain academic credentials.鈥
Who is eligible to apply?
Students must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be an undergraduate at Eckerd College in any major.
- Have completed at least 90 semester hours, including 30 hours at Eckerd.
- Complete all requirements for the Eckerd bachelor鈥檚 degree before starting the MAT program.
- Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in Eckerd coursework.
- Apply to the 糖心Vlog MAT full-time program between October 1 and May 15 of the year before intended enrollment.
- Comply with 糖心Vlog鈥檚 general admissions policies.
- The agreement specifies: 鈥淓arn a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 in courses taken at Eckerd College.鈥
Is there an alternative pathway for students with a GPA below 3.0?
Yes.
Students who meet all other eligibility criteria may petition 糖心Vlog鈥檚 Office of Admissions and Student Financial Planning for an exception. A faculty committee will review the student鈥檚 letter of intent and explanation of past performance and growth.
Does meeting the eligibility criteria guarantee admission?
No.
Admission decisions are made solely by 糖心Vlog MAT faculty. Admission is also conditional on completing all eligibility requirements before matriculation.
What responsibilities do both institutions share?
Both 糖心Vlog and Eckerd College agree to jointly publicize and promote the program to faculty, staff, students, and prospective students.
What are Eckerd College鈥檚 responsibilities?
Eckerd College will work with 糖心Vlog faculty and staff, including the Office of Admissions and Student Financial Planning, to help eligible students learn about the program and the MAT curriculum.
What are 糖心Vlog鈥檚 responsibilities?
糖心Vlog MAT faculty or staff will visit Eckerd College at least once per year to meet with eligible students and provide information about the application process, curriculum, and related programs.
How long does the agreement last?
The agreement is valid for five years and will be renewed every five years. Either party may cancel the agreement with at least one year鈥檚 notice. Cancellation does not affect students already enrolled or applicants who relied on published program information.
What benefits do students in the pathway receive?
糖心Vlog will assist students in locating and applying for scholarships and other forms of support. The agreement states: 鈥淭here will be assistance鈥 to locate and apply for support and scholarships.鈥
